Aavash Samuha Youth Chapter – Kathmandu, Nepal
Aavash Samuha Youth Chapter is a network of young people who use drugs based in Kathmandu that helps to provide health and social services to people living and affected with HIV & AIDS and people who use drugs, through prevention, treatment and care programs to promote their rights to lead quality life.
Under the hosting of Aavash Samuha, the organization’s youth chapter was formed to involve and enhance the capacity of young people who use drugs and Young people living with HIV and AIDS with and underlying principle of “By and for”. This Youth Chapter is solely driven by young people who use drugs and living with HIV and AIDS, who have analytical approaches into the realities of the particular affected community as of to create a common floor for dialogue and action.
Aavash Samuha Youth Chapter has implemented a capacity development oriented project especially targeted to the young female who use drugs through different trainings and advocacy methods. In this frame, the organization developed an Overdose Awareness Day, and has been referring young women who use drugs to medical services, including sexual and reproductive services.
Some of the partnerships that organizational has consolidated ore the ones with Recovering Nepal, a national network of drug service organization in Nepal, and NAP+N, a national network of People living with HIV and AIDS in Nepal.
